GENERAL/ELEMENTAL QUALITIES:

The Kidneys have five principal functions:
• storing essence and dominating reproduction, growth
and development.
• producing marrow, filling up the brain, dominating
bones and assisting in the production of blood.
• dominating WATER..
• controlling the reception of qi.
• opening into the ears and dominating the two lower
yin (the anus and urethra).

MERIDIAN ANATOMY OF KIDNEY:

GREATER VESSEL: Begins beneath the little toe and crosses the sole of the foot to Yongquan KI-1, it ascends along the medial aspect of the leg following the points of the Meridian. It connects with SP-6, and from KI-10 follows the postero-medial aspect of the thigh to the tip of the coccyx where it intersects with GV-l. From there it ascends through the spine, enters the zang Kidney
and connects with the fu Bladder, from whence it follow up the anterior aspect of abdomen and chest to just below the clavicle at KI-27.   One branch emerges from the Kidney, ascends
through the Liver and diaphragm, enters the Lung and ascends along the throat to terminate at the root of the tongue, while another branch separates in the Lung, joins with the
Heart and disperses in the chest to link with the Pericardium Meridian at CV-17.

TENDINO MUSCULAR MERIDIAN: Follows the KI meridian but involves genitals and sends a branch vetebrae which acends to the occipital bone emerging at SI-18.

DIVERGENT CHANNEL (DISTINCT MERIDIAN): KI-10, BL-40 to BL-10 passing through the rectum, uterus, prostate, kidney, bladder up to the nape of the neck passing via the root of the toungue.

LONGITUDINAL LUO CHANNEL: From KI-4 sends feeders out to the heel and goes up BL meridian of leg to connect with KI meridian of abdomen, connects with the pericardium organ and then sends branches back to the lumbar vertebrae.

TRANSVERSE LUO CHANNEL: KI-4 to BL-64
